Is My Computer Dying???

I've been having a couple of computer issues in the last week or so. Firefox crashes often... it never did before... and my computer just restarts itself all of a sudden for no apparent reason. Adrian said it sounded like a hardware issue and that my computer is probably about to crash. It's pretty old... about 7 years now. Then a couple of days ago my virus software found a bug... a pretty small one called TR/Crypt.ZPACK.Gen.... Avira got rid of it within a couple of minutes so I thought that was my issue. Nope.... computer restarted itself again today. So I've spent the day backing up my files... copying some to Adrian's computer and some to my extra lil storage drive that he put in mine awhile back. I have 100's of rare Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac mp3's (concerts and demos).... all my pics of Steffie and the Grandbabies... plus all of my business files... none of which I want to even think about losing. So hopefully now they are all copied in safe places. I was also able to figure out how to save my e-mail files on Incredimail.... and my bookmarks on Firefox... so if my poor old computer does crash everything should be safe and transferable when I'm able to get a new computer.

But then I read on another blog that Blogger and Firefox are having issues... and other people are having the Firefox crash issue due to that. So that makes me feel better about the stability of my computer. But I don't know if the restarting on it's own is connected to that..... anyone know??? Either way... the back-up needed doing. I hope my computer doesn't die :( .... I'm quite attached to her....

Music Monday - So Afraid by Fleetwood Mac

This is one of Lindsey Buckingham's Fleetwood Mac songs. I have to say that I'm not a huge fan of Lindsey... but they don't call him the "Guitar God" for nothing. And I really do love this particular song.... it has such a haunting and eerie feel to it. I also have to admit that he really is hot during this performance..... he knows how to have a heck of guitar orgasm! And don't forget to catch Mick in the background on the drums... I love the faces that he makes! This performance is live from the 1982 Mirage tour in Los Angeles. Enjoy!

Where is Stevie Nicks during all of this??? She's backstage changing into another exquisitely witchy outfit :)

Music Monday - Gyspy by Fleetwood Mac

Gypsy has been a very special song to me since the first time that I heard it.... it has always made me think of my aunt... her name was Valerie and she was just a year older than me. We grew up together like sisters. We spent many special times together dancing, singing, just playing and being lil girls. Halloween was always one of our favorite times and on one of our last ones together she dressed up like a gypsy. She was such a special and magickal lil girl. At the the age of 12 it was discovered that she had a brain tumor... about 6 months later she was gone from us. She has been gone now longer than she ever lived in this life... but I love her and miss her still. My heart aches for my best childhood friend.... I cry for the times we never got to spend together.... the lost memories we should have shared. Though she never heard this song... or of Stevie Nicks or Fleetwood Mac... I consider this her song.... she was my gypsy.... my best friend.... my sister.....

"She was just a wish... she was just.. a.. wish... and her memory is all that is left for you now... you see your gypsy..."

Tomorrow would have been her 46th birthday... my own birthday is later this month... so October was our month... and today I want to dedicate this song to her....

Years after hearing Gypsy for the first time I learned that it was written about Stevie's best friend Robin who had leukemia. Robin too is gone from this lifetime... but I know that Stevie's heart aches for her best friend.... her gypsy.... as well.

To Robin and Valerie... and "the gypsies that remain"... your memories dance in my heart....

Music Monday - Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac

Silver Springs was a song that was supposed to be included on the Rumours album in 1977... but of course back then not as many songs would fit on vinyl as you can fit now onto a CD... so Fleetwood Mac had to eliminate some of the songs that they wanted to include..... Silver Springs was one of those songs. Stevie was very upset by this decision... but she went along with it and Silver Springs became the B-side to the singles Go Your Own Way and The Chain. It was revived however in 1997 when Fleetwood Mac did The Dance Tour... and became a much loved hit. So after 20 years Silver Springs finally became what it should have been.

This a beautiful and haunting song.... Stevie pours her heart and soul into this song.... as she belts out "Time casts a spell on you... that you won't forget me.... I'll follow you down till the sound of my voice will haunt you.... you'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you".... you know she means it! This song was written to Lindsey (Buckingham... the guitar player... in case you don't know the history of this band and these two.... and the Rumours album for that matter) ... and as you can see in 2009 Lindsey Buckingham has still not gotten away from the sound of her voice.... that was a spell that took!

So a beautiful love song... and also a haunting and powerful spell cast by a broken hearted enchanting Witch surely fits this season....

Music Monday - Dirty South Boyz

This week for Music Monday I want to take a lil break from Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac and share a special video with you. This is my son Jordan and today is his 20th birthday.... it's his twin brother Justin's birthday too...lol... but Jordan is a rap artist. He's following his dream to persue a successful career in rap music. Now rap is soooo not my thing... but I support him in his struggle.... and to honor his birthday I want to share with you a video of him performing with a group he formed a few years ago... I think he was 15 maybe 16 at the time... he works mainly on his own now... but this is the only video that I have. The boys sold everything they could get their hands on to take a trip to Atlanta to perform in a huge rap thing down there called Hood Hard.... they only had 2 microphones to share and the sound is not great... but this was their first public performance.... they were even on the radio a few times :) Jordan is in the middle. This is their performance... not bad for 3 young southern boys if you ask me :)

If you like rap and like this performance you can visit his MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/jayflow09 and hear his more current work..... he's grown a lot musically since then.

Here are The Dirty South Boyz!

Music Monday - I Need To Know by Stevie Nicks

I Need To Know was written by Stevie's dear friend Tom Petty. I heard it for the first time when I saw the HBO Special back in 1982 and I immediately began my search to find what album this song was on. I was a fairly new Stevie fan and we didn't have the luxury of doing an internet search back then so information was a bit harder to come by... remember those days??? I searched and searched for this song along with Gold and Braid which was also on the HBO Special.... and neither was anywhere to be found other than this live concert... which was only available on video. Turned out that neither song had ever been recorded on a Stevie Nicks (or Fleetwood Mac) album.

I have loved this song since the first time I heard it... it's one of the rare few that she sings but didn't write herself.... it's just such a rocker!.... and I'm sorry Tom (Petty).... but Stevie rocked it waaaay more than you did!

This is also Steffie's very favorite Stevie song... she's been singing it since was barely 2 years old.... later I'll post a lil video of her singing it too :)... but for now here is Stevie Nicks performing I Need To Know live from the HBO Special....

Music Monday - Gold Dust Woman by Stevie Nicks

Cover of "Rumours"Cover of Rumours

Gold Dust Woman was written by Stevie Nicks and recorded on Fleetwood Mac's Rumours Album. Rumours was my very first Fleetwood Mac album and I spent hours and hours in my bedroom listening to it... looking at the photos on the insert and reading the credits...back when I was 15 years old. I had to know who this wonderful voice was coming from.... who wrote the lyrics that haunted my soul..... was her name really Stevie???... odd for a girl.... but it had to be... she had to be the one. I had just fallen in love with this band called Fleetwood Mac after spending the weekend with a friend who played Rumours continuously the whole weekend long. By the end of the weekend I knew every word to every song.... and I knew I had to have my own copy. And thus my love for Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac were born.... and Rumours is still my favorite album almost 30 years later.

Thank you Elisa Daniels (wherever you are) for giving me this wonderful gift of loving Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac... it has been with me through every day of my life ever since.... I don't think you had any clue what you had given....

This version of Gold Dust Woman is performed by Stevie during her Bella Donna Tour on the HBO Special (Stevie Nicks Live)..... so hear it is.... a song that has haunted my soul for 30 years.... and all I can say is.....

Rock On Gold Dust Woman!

Music Monday - Gypsy by Fleetwood Mac

I had to do Gypsy this week for Music Monday... well... because obviously Gypsy was named after this song. You see we thought Gypsy was a girl... sometimes it's really hard to tell with cats until they get bigger... and one day I realized that Gypsy was a boy.

This song and video have always been one of my favorites... I love the dancing... and the story in the video... and I especially love the end with Stevie and the lil girls dancing on the cliff in the forest... it's sooo beautiful... and magickal.... but... the original video is not available right now. So here is a live version from the Mirage Tour.

There is a deeper story behind this song... and why it was written... and a deeper story to why this song means so much to me... but I will save that for the time I was actually waiting for to post this song... you'll see it again in October... with the full story. For now... this time it is for Gypsy...

Another one of my very favorites from the Rumours album.... an amazing song. Love the drums in this song... and the lyrics are just haunting...

Here is Fleetwood Mac... rockin it with a live version of The Chain... Japan 1977. Check out Stevie in her awesome cloak... and spinning and rockin it out with her tambourine around the 5 minute mark.... Oh My Goddess.... awesome!

Music Monday - Storms - Fleetwood Mac

Storms has always been one of my favorites from Fleetwood Mac. On the current tour Unleashed they are performing this song live for the very first time. I had the wonderful privilege of standing at the front of the stage in Nashville last month... at the feet of a Goddess.... as she sang... and cried... and danced.... and poured her heart out...

So here it is Storms... by Fleetwood Mac in Nashville 6-19-09

And I want to dedicate this one to my friend Storm at Confessions of a Psychotic Housewife...

Music Monday - Sara by Stevie Nicks

Last week I shared my very favorite song... so this week I wanted to share my second favorite... Sara... by Stevie Nicks. This version is from the same concert as the version of Rhiannon from last week. My oldest daughter is named Sarah Rhiannon after these two songs. I have loved them since I saw this concert in 1982... and I doubt any other songs will ever take their place in my heart... not after all of these years...

Enjoy this very haunting version of Sara...

From LYRICSMODE.COM lyrics archive
Lyrics | Stevie Nicks lyrics - Sara lyrics

Wait a minute baby. . .
Stay with me awhile
Said you'd give me light
But you never told me about the fire

Drowning in the sea of love
Where everyone would love to drown
And now it's gone
It doesn't matter anymore
When you build your house
Call me home

And he was just like a great dark wing
Within the wings of a storm
I think I had met my match--he was singing
And undoing the laces
Undoing the laces

Drowning in the sea of love
Where everyone would love to drown
And now it's gone
It doesn't matter anymore
When you build your house
Call me home

Hold on
[ Stevie Nicks Lyrics are found on www.songlyrics.com ]
The night is coming and the starling
flew for days
I'd stay home at night all the time
I'd go anywhere, anywhere
Ask me and I'm there because I care

Sara, you're the poet in my heart
Never change, never stop
And now it's gone
It doesn't matter what for
When you build your house
I'll come by

Drowning in the sea of love
Where everyone would love to drown
And now it's gone
It doesn't matter anymore
When you build your house
Call me home

All I ever wanted
Was to know that you were dreaming
(There's a heartbeat
And it never really died)

More About Our Nashville Weekend....

Steffie had a great time twirling and singing in her adorable lil Stevie Outfit!

I just can't believe that tomorrow will be a week already since we saw Fleetwood Mac in Nashville. Last week was so busy and hectic getting Sarah to Atlanta for her American Idol audition.... and then us leaving the next day to spend the weekend in Nashville. This week has flown by.... the aches in my body are finally easing.... and I think I'm finally getting back into the swing of things.... I needed a few days to recuperate from having fun... LOL... I guess that's yet another sign of getting older. Geez I would love to have the body and energy I had 20 years ago!

Seeing Fleetwood Mac on Friday night was just the beginning of our lil weekend getaway. It was great to hang out with our friends Cindy and Tim afterwards and have lunch with them on Saturday before they headed back home. I actually met Cindy and Tim..... and my husband .... OMG! 12 years ago ( I can't believe it's been that long ago) on AOL in the Stevie Nicks chatroom. That's right... I met my hubby and some of my very best friends online. That was such a magical time for us all.... the Wild Hearts... as we called ourselves.... I really miss those days of Stevie chats.... and staying up all night on the computer and typing till my fingers just could not function anymore. Cyn, Tim and my hubby of course... are the only ones I kept in touch with from those days.... but I will always remember the others and how much fun we had. It truely was a special time...

But back to our weekend.... we had dinner with a friend who lives in Nashville. Josh is actually someone that Adrian used to work with and even though I've met him before I never really got to talk with him. It was nice to have a chance to get to know him better. We had a really good conversation and he's a really awesome guy. I wanted to go on a ghost tour later.... but it was a walking tour and my feet, legs and back were hurting so bad I just didn't think I could do it.... it was also just really hot... even after dark it was hot and muggy and I just can't tolerate heat well at all.... so I had to pass up the tour. We ended up just going back to our hotel and going to bed early.... I told you I was getting old!

On Sunday we went to the Opryland Hotel.... if you haven't been there it's soooo beautiful! The enormous indoor gardens are just exquisite.... I could walk around in there for days and never tire of the beauty of it.... it's an amazing indoor paradise. If you are ever in Nashville you have to see this place! It's full of walkways.... trees and other plants... waterfalls... and even it's own lil river... complete with a boat you can ride on. There are 3 sections to the gardens.... each with it's own theme... one being the Delta Atrium with a New Orleans theme..... the buildings in that part are replicas of the French Quarter.

On the drive back home I decided to make a game of counting signs..... I really hate long car rides so this kinda made the ride go by faster. It all started when I saw a Lake Winnepesaukah sign in Murpheesboro... I was soooo surprised to see it that far from Chattanooga.

Seeing this sign.... along with a conversation with Josh the previous night about the cheesy 70's tourist attractions.... Rock City and Ruby Falls inspired my lil game that brought us lot's of laughs on the way home. If you've ever driven anywhere in the south near Chattanooga you know there are tons of signs for these attractions along the way.... so I decided to count them all the way to Chattanooga. I counted.... 5 Lake Winnie signs

38 Ruby Falls signs including billboards and barns such as this one....

26 See Rock City Signs... also billboards and painted barns.... some in spots way back off the road.... 3 Incline signs (this attraction goes along with Rock City and Ruby Falls).... and only 1 sign for the Tennessee Aquarium

Oh the things we do to entertain ourselves.....

And thus ended our weekend getaway.... oh did I mention I walked into a trashed house??? No?.... well that's what happens when you go away for the weekend and leave 2 adult(?) children at home.... sigh....

Fleetwood Mac Rocks Nashville!!!!

We spent an amazing weekend in Nashville! I'm exhausted and happy happy happy!

We left Friday afternoon and drove up... checked into our hotel and got ready for an amazing night. Steffie and I got all dressed up in our "Stevie clothes" ..... devoted Stevie Nicks fans that we are... we just can't go see Stevie without dressing for it! Steffie looked so cute in her lil Stevie clothes. She was sooo excited to be going to see Stevie Nicks.... who she was named after.

The whole weekend went amazingly smoothe... we met up with our friends Cindy and Tim and drove to the show.... went right in and got our tickets from will call.... no problem getting Steffie in..... we were worried that we would have to dish out another $50+ bucks for a nosebleed ticket for
her.... but they let her right in.

We never even saw our seats which were supposed to be on the 7th row.... we walked down the stairs and right past the row our seats were on.... and staight up to the front of the stage where we stayed all night! Steffie loved it!.... I loved it!.... we had an amazing night!

Fleetwood Mac rocked Nashville! The show was just awesome! I danced.... and cried.... and sang... and laughed the whole night. Stevie sang my favorite songs.... Sara and Rhiannon.... my two all time favorite songs which my oldest daughter is named after.... lil Steffie is named after Stevie herself. Gypsy.... which always makes me cry.... it reminds me of my aunt who died when she was 12 and I was 11 (we were like sisters). Silver Springs.... a beautiful and heartwrenching song.... and even a favorite that they have never performed live before this tour.... Storms. During Rhiannon Stevie soooo went into her own lil world.... doing her spins and wailing.... just like back in the day.... like I haven't seen her do in years.... she was just soooo beautiful!

This night will go into my lil memory file of the best nights in my life.... right behind the last time I spent the night at Stevie's feet in Charlotte NC back in 2001. I never in my wildest dreams thought either of these nights would truely happen for me. And at this point I soooo needed this very special night... after our year from hell... and the several more preceding it that weren't so great either. Even 2 months ago I would not have dared to even think about seeing Stevie live again.... and especially not about being right up front close to her. It was just something I would not let myself think about because it would make me so depressed to know I was missing Stevie and Fleetwood Mac yet again.

I've been a Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac fan for 30 years.... since I was 15 years old. Their music has been there for me to get me through all the tough times... the heartbreak of the teenage years.... many years in an abusive marriage... my escape from that prison.... and I finally found my wonderful husband who is also a Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac fan. I've named my children after Stevie and my favorite songs.... celebrated with their music.... and cried my eyes out from a broken heart with their music.... they have been their with their music through it all...
In Stevie's words from Storms.... "never have a been a blue calm sea.... I have always... been a storm...."

Lil Stephanie Lynn.... rockin it out with Stephanie Lynn Nicks! We did everything.... short of actually putting her up on stage.... to get Stevie to see her. When Stevie says she can't see.... she really means it! LOL Hopefully she got the photo of Steffie that I sent backstage for her : )

Rock On Gold Dust Woman!.... until next time... "when I see you again".... your music will always be in my wild lil heart.....

~A Lil Enchanted~
