Congratulations To My Son and Daughter-In Law!
I'm sooo proud of my son Justin and his wife Hannah!
They graduated High School last night. These two have worked soooo hard for this. Hannah got pregnant when they were sophomores and they got married that summer after lil Austie was born. So many teens give up and drop out... but not these two.... they stuck with it and have worked really hard.
They lived with Hannah's parents for quite awhile and finally were able to get their own apartment last year. Just a few months ago.... at age 19 mind you... and still in High School... they purchased their own home! How many 19 year old High School students do you know who have done that?! I am sooo proud of these two! I just can't say it enough.
They both have good jobs and plan to go to college. Justin's employer is paying for his education... and Hannah is planning to get her degree in nursing. She currently works for a pediatrician's office. Justin will begin taking Business classes in the fall.
There was a time when I never thought I would see this day. Justin failed his freshman year miserably because he just absolutely refused to get up and go to school. We even went to court because of his truancy. The judge ordered all electronics removed from his room and curfews and I can't even remember what all. He was not to miss a single nother day of school. If he was sick he was to go to school and be sent home by the school nurse to go to the doctor. He even tested this order by missing a day and was picked up that evening by the police and taken to YDC.... he was sick and refused to go to school. He was sent home the following day and toughed out the rest of the year even though he received very few credits due to his attendance.
The following year he really buckled down and got serious. His grades were great and his whole attitude towards school was much improved. He had made up his mind to graduate and go to college. Then he met Hannah and they started dating.... and soon she became pregnant. I was so worried for the two of them... but they are hard workers and very determined. And now they have achieved one of their goals. It hasn't been easy.... but they did it. They stuck with it and look what they've accomplished!
So other Moms out there if you have a child with attendance issues.... don't give up. It's tough to deal with teens and their stubborness.... but there is hope.
And if your teen has a baby.... encourage them to stick with it.... stay in school.... they can do it... it's not easy... but they can do it!
Lil Austie (Austin) just turned two last month and he is a cute and very smart lil fellow. They are such a sweet lil family.
Congratulations Justin and Hannah!!!

Catching Up....
Well It's been a busy few days here in Boringville.... Adrian was off work on Friday so we got our grocery shopping done and our bills paid. We only go grocery shopping every 2 weeks because he gets paid every 2 weeks.... so I take out the bill money and the gas money and what we have left is what we buy groceries and other needs with for the next 2 weeks. This way we know when the spending has to stop. We have reverted back to a pretty much cash system... so when the money is gone... it's gone. This particular pay period we were a bit behind due to some unexpected expenses having to come out of bill money that I had put up.... so we had $100 to buy groceries and other necessities to get us through the next 2 weeks. It was a tight squeeze but we were able to pull it off and even took Steffie to Buddy Bear's Playhouse afterwards.
She loves it there... they have the inflatable play equipment and she loves to go there... and it's cheap! On weekends it's $4 for her to get in... parents are free!... and through the week it's only $2. So this is a great place for us to take her to have a good time. We did learn not to eat there though... that's where the money starts to add up.
Things will get better soon around here though... Adrian got that new job and a nice raise to go with it! So we're looking forward to a lil bit more comfort in our finances. He starts June 1st!
I managed to get all my laundry done and some of the housework caught up on Sunday and Monday and spent some time playing with Steffie and reading to her. She loves to read and will stack 3 or 4 books in the chair and then ask me to read them to her. Right now she's loving the Fancy Nancy books by Jane O'Conner.
Our local library only has a few of the books but I signed her up to win all eight at the Fancy Nancy web site! She would absolutely be tickled pink if she won all of those books! I didn't even know there was a web site until today... so I'll have to show it to her later. She will love to play the Fancy Nancy games. Like her Mom she loves to play computer games... and at 3 years old she's become quite accomplished with the mouse.
My son Jordan was accepted into Full Sail University in Orlando FL! It's one of the premier media arts schools in the world and is very difficult to get into... so I'm really proud of him. He has a lil girl and works hard to support her. He recently got his GED and now he wants to go to college. He's been rapping for several years and writing his own material so he sent them his MySpace link and they contacted him. He'll be learning the business side of the music industry and the recording side as well. So if you like rap check out his my space! He's only 19 and he's really good... even if I am his Mom. You can listen to his songs and see his pics there.
On a more sour note.... my older daughter lost her job. She was working at the local amusement park and was fired for "interfering with park policy" after trying to help a disgruntled customer.
So now she's looking for a new job. She really liked her job but apparently someone there really disliked her and was looking for just any excuse to get rid of her. This is not surprising... Sarah is a very unique individual and you either love her or hate her... she's loud and brash and she can be hilariously funny... and sometimes majorly annoying... she has an amazing voice... and a talent for thinking fast and improvising to come up with the most off the wall funny things(think Robin Williams). She reminds me of a combination of Janis Joplin and Gilda Radner. I have told her many times that she is wasting her talent.... she needs to pursue a career in music and acting.... she would be amazing on Saturday Night Live.... but they don't do auditions.... they send out talent scouts to find their new cast members. I hope to take her to audition for American Idol this year.... but I don't know if she will do well on there... not because of her singing ability... she certainly has that... but because she may be too loud and brash for it. I really don't think Sarah will be successful in any other field... she just can't conform to the everyday common working world. She has had so many disappointments in her life... I hope she will someday be able to show everyone that hurt her and rejected her that she can be successful.
So that is how my last few days have been.... some ups... some downs. A lot more cleaning to get done... I just can't seem to keep caught up... never mind getting ahead. There is just never enough time to get done what I need to do and what I want to do. Gotta go get busy!

Edible Playdough
Does your lil one love playdough??? I know mine does... she also loves to help Mommy cook...so what could be more fun than making your own playdough and then eating it when you're finished playing??? Here are some awesome edible playdough recipes to enjoy with your lil ones.... great for a rainy day... or anytime you just want to do something fun.
Peanut Butter Play dough
1 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup honey
2 cups powdered sugar
Mix all ingredients in a bowl, using your hands. Dough
should feel soft and pliable. Form shapes and put on some bread and eat it if you want! Be creative!
You can also add other foods like M&M's or peanuts for eyes,
mouths, etc
Storage: When not using, MUST be stored in an airtight
container.
Chocolate Playdough
8 oz. semisweet chocolate
1/4 cup plus one tablespoon light corn syrup
Melt the chocolate in a metal bowl set over a pan of
simmering water (a double boiler). Stir the chocolate
with a spoon until smooth, then stir in the corn syrup.
The chocolate will stiffen almost immediately but stir
completely combined. Transfer the chocolate to a sturdy
plastic bag and refrigerate until firm; the consistency will
be that of Play Dough.
When firm, the dough can be worked by kneading. If it
is too hard, cut off small pieces and knead until pliable.
If the dough sticks to the counter when rolling, lightly
spray counter or breadboard with vegetable spray or
lightly grease with vegetable oil.
Cut or form into some fun shapes... when you're finished having fun your snack will be ready!
Cream Cheese Playdough
8 oz. package of cream cheese
1/2 cup non-fat dry milk
1 tablespoon honey
crackers or bread slices
Combine cream cheese, milk and honey in a bowl and
mix until well blended. Mold sculptures on wax paper.
Storage: Unused portions MUST BE STORED in an
airtight container and kept refrigerated! Because cream
cheese is perishable, use the expiration date on the
cream cheese package as your guide for how long you
can keep this play dough.
Note: The shapes can then be placed on crackers or
bread slices, decorated with edibles (celery or carrot
slivers, raisins, dried fruit pieces, nuts, or seeds for a
healthy snack... then eat! Yummy!
Frosting Playdough
1 can frosting (any flavor)
1-1/2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup creamy peanut butter
Mix together until dough reaches desired consistency
Storage: When not using, MUST be stored in an airtight
container and refrigerated. Next time you want to use it,
let it come to room temperature for pliable dough

So yes this is how my house looked yesterday after taking Mother's day off. It will take me days just to get my house back to the state of things I already needed to clean before I took a day off. And it certainly didn't help that our water pipe broke yesterday. I realized something was wrong when the washing machine stopped at the rinse cycle.... but I thought we didn't have water because maybe they were working on the lines down the road. After 2 hours I called my son who lives down the street and confirmed that their water was working fine. I walk out the back door to go ask across the street and there is water gushing under my house. Great! This has been gushing for 2 hours! Our water bill will be sky high next month! So I rush into the house... get the pliers and go down to the road to shut off the water. As soon as I do hubby gets home from his interview. So we finally get the pipe repaired around 7:30 p.m. after 2 trips... of course... to the hardware store. You know you can never make just one trip when you're doing an emergency repair! So now it's almost bedtime for Steffie and we've had no dinner. Good thing we had hot dogs handy.... they're a quick and easy fix. And though there is never a good day to have something like this happen... at least it happened on a day when hubby was off work and home to fix it.
Hubby went for a second interview today and we'll most likely hear something back tomorrow. They have really pursued him for this company... so it looks very positive. However... it also looks like we won't be making that move to New Orleans any time soon if he takes this position... but still possibly in the future.
My day will be spent cleaning... doing laundry that I didn't get done yesterday... spending time with Steffie... and working online.... clicking my lil fingers as fast as I can click.
I'm a lil disappointed that I've spent so much time on my blog and I only have 2 followers (one is my hubby)... so if you like my blog please become a follower.

Fun and Educational Web Sites!
I found a few web sites that Moms and especially homeschoolers might be interested in... check them out and see if you and your kids might find them fun and useful.
Visit Kid Concotions to find a fun monthly science experiment. At this time you only get one each month but maybe in the future they will give access to past experiments... that is my hope for this site anyways. And it's free to join the club so go ahead and sign up!
Visit Childrens Storybooks Online offers books that your kids can read online. So if you're going on a trip and you have a laptop this is something your kids might enjoy doing to keep them entertained. Each story also has riddles and games. The kids can have fun while they learn!
A to Z Teacher Stuff is a huge source of free teaching materials. You can search based on grade level, subject and theme so you're bound to find something useful for whatever lesson your are working on. This is great for homeschoolers... but also for Moms who just want to find a fun project for your child... or who wants to give their child a lil extra tutoring on any subject.
Have Fun!

Monday Again...
Ok.... oddly enough my whole list of blogs magically reappeared... just as they magically disappeared. How odd is that?! But thank goodness they're back.
Hubby is gone for a job interview and hopefully will get offered a nice increase in salary. He's wanting very badly to relocate to New Orleans and this company would make that even more of a possibility. I am a lil iffy on the whole moving thing. I hate to move... and moving a long distance is even harder than moving locally. We've been in this house for 9 years... but before that we moved quite a bit. The worst part is the packing... and since this would fall 90% on me.... I do not look forward to it.
Several years ago I wanted to move and he didn't.... so we stayed. Now I still kinda want to move.... but I also dread it. So a decision needs to made... and the Libra rising in me is having a really tough time making a decision. The Scorpio in me really dislikes the Libra because of this flippy floppy decision making it brings. But once I finally do make up my mind... it is set. So we'll see how this turns out.

OMG! My Blogs Are Gone!
Every blog that I was following is gone from my list! What happened? Did this happen to anyone else? Now I have to try to remember what they all were : (
I am not a happy camper. Is this a nice thing to do to someone on a Monday? On the Monday after Mother's Day?
I told you I hate Mercury Retrograde!
Damn you Mercury Retrograde... damn you... damn you... damn you!
The Scorpio is raging!

What A Mom Really Wants For Mother's Day
I Just wanted to wish all of the Moms out there a Happy Mother's Day..... I hope you all had a great one!
And for you Dads and Kids... I thought I would share a few tips on what a Mom really wants for Mother's Day. I guess maybe I should have done this list before Mother's Day... but I didn't want to seem as though I was dropping not so subtle hints to my own husband and kids. Maybe this will be of help to you next Mother's Day!
What A Mom Really Wants For Mother's Day
1. To sleep in
2. To wake up to a clean house that she didn't have to clean
3. To eat food that she didn't have to cook
4. To not have to clean up the mess
5. To not have to do any housework of any kind today
6. To not have to clean up poop today.... be it from the kids or the animals
7. To not have to listen to anyone whine
8. To get lots of hugs and kisses and I love you's
9. To do something fun with her family
10. To spend time with her own Mother
I was fortunate enough to get about half of these today..... along with some beautiful tulips and a card from my kids. So thank you to my sweet family for all that you did to make my Mother's Day a nice one! I love you!
