Is My Computer Dying???

I've been having a couple of computer issues in the last week or so. Firefox crashes often... it never did before... and my computer just restarts itself all of a sudden for no apparent reason. Adrian said it sounded like a hardware issue and that my computer is probably about to crash. It's pretty old... about 7 years now. Then a couple of days ago my virus software found a bug... a pretty small one called TR/Crypt.ZPACK.Gen.... Avira got rid of it within a couple of minutes so I thought that was my issue. Nope.... computer restarted itself again today. So I've spent the day backing up my files... copying some to Adrian's computer and some to my extra lil storage drive that he put in mine awhile back. I have 100's of rare Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac mp3's (concerts and demos).... all my pics of Steffie and the Grandbabies... plus all of my business files... none of which I want to even think about losing. So hopefully now they are all copied in safe places. I was also able to figure out how to save my e-mail files on Incredimail.... and my bookmarks on Firefox... so if my poor old computer does crash everything should be safe and transferable when I'm able to get a new computer.

But then I read on another blog that Blogger and Firefox are having issues... and other people are having the Firefox crash issue due to that. So that makes me feel better about the stability of my computer. But I don't know if the restarting on it's own is connected to that..... anyone know??? Either way... the back-up needed doing. I hope my computer doesn't die :( .... I'm quite attached to her....

Good Morning
My wife's machine was doing the same thing. It kept rebooting. It was under warranty so we took it back. They replaced the ram.It fixed the problem. It could possibly be your hard drive has a bad spot. When it hits that spot it reboots. These are just a few ideas.Good luck with it.It is very frustrating.

I heard an ad on the radio today and thought I'd try it -
doublemyspeed.com free diagnosis of what is wrong on your computer. Maybe you could use this too.

Okay, I noticed that Firefox is running like crap lately, too. It freezes up and crashes and shuts down. My whole computer doesn't go down but the internet does. It has been really annoying and when it's not crashing, it's slow. As for going to these diagnostic websites, I don't recommend it. I did that a couple of times where it said "free" and the diagnostic is free, they find like HUNDREDS of things wrong with your computer and then there is usually something of theirs that you have to buy (for like $50) to fix it. I'm just not sure how trustworthy they are.

I had noticed that firefox was running bad, I actually uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and so far so good, knock on wood. You may want to try that!
